Donald Trump: FBI has raided Mar-a-Lago, property ‘under siege’

Former President Trump stated on Monday that his Florida estate, Mar-a-Lago, is “under siege” by a “large group” of FBI agents conducting a search warrant.

“Nothing like this has ever happened to a President of the United States before. After working and cooperating with the relevant Government agencies, this unannounced raid on my home was not necessary or appropriate,” Trump said. “It is prosecutorial misconduct, the weaponization of the Justice System, and an attack by Radical Left Democrats who desperately don’t want me to run for President in 2024, especially based on recent polls, and who will likewise do anything to stop Republicans and Conservatives in the upcoming Midterm Elections.”

“Such an assault could only take place in broken, Third-World Countries. Sadly, America has now become one of those Countries, corrupt at a level not seen before,” Trump said, alleging that the FBI agents broke into his safe.

“What is the difference between this and Watergate, where operatives broke into the Democrat National Committee?” he said. “Here, in reverse, Democrats broke into the home of the 45th President of the United States.”

South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, one of many criticizing the raid, called it “an unprecedented political weaponization of the Justice Department.”

“They’ve been after President Trump as a candidate, as President, and now as a former President,” Noem tweeted. “Using the criminal justice system in this manner is un-American.”

The Republican National Committee (RNC) slammed the raid as a double standard.

“Absolute power corrupts absolutely. Countless times we have examples of Democrats flouting the law and abusing power with no recourse,” RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel said in a statement. “Democrats continually weaponize the bureaucracy against Republicans. This raid is outrageous. This abuse of power must stop and the only way to do that is to elect Republicans in November.”

‘Weaponized’ Justice System

The raid came two days after the 45th president said that he may be the “most persecuted” person in the history of America.

“A friend of mine recently said that I was the most persecuted person in the history of our country,” Trump said during his speech at CPAC. “And then I thought about it, because I didn’t have time to think much because I’m always being persecuted, and I felt he may very well be right.”

Trump called the raid “prosecutorial misconduct, the weaponization of the Justice System, and an attack by Radical Left Democrats who desperately don’t want me to run for President in 2024.”

“I stood up to America’s bureaucratic corruption, I restored power to the people, and truly delivered for our Country, like we have never seen before. The establishment hated it,” Trump said in his Monday statement.

“Now, as they watch my endorsed candidates win big victories, and see my dominance in all polls, they are trying to stop me, and the Republican Party, once more. The lawlessness, political persecution, and Witch Hunt must be exposed and stopped,” Trump said.

“I will continue to fight for the Great American People!”

Republicans are slamming the Biden administration and accusing the Department of Justice of “political weaponization,” while Democrats are lauding the agency for holding Trump accountable for “wrongdoing.”

“The raid of MAL is another escalation in the weaponization of federal agencies against the Regime’s political opponents, while people like Hunter Biden get treated with kid gloves,” said Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. “Now the Regime is getting another 87k IRS agents to wield against its adversaries? Banana Republic.”

Donald Trump Jr. reacts to FBI raid on Mar-A-Lago

Donald Trump Jr., the eldest child of former President Donald Trump, reacted to the FBI raid at the former president’s Florida home, Mar-A-Lago, saying that the Democrats are “openly targeting their political enemies.”

“[President Joe] Biden’s out of control DOJ is ripping this country apart with how they’re openly targeting their political enemies,” Trump stated on social media.

He added that a raid on political opponents “is what you see happen in 3rd World Banana Republics!!!”

Marco Rubio: This happens in ‘Marxist dictatorships’

“Using government power to persecute political opponents is something we have seen many times from 3rd world Marxist dictatorships But never before in America,” Rubio said Monday evening following the news.

He later linked the raid to the Senate’s passage of the radical $700 billion Inflation Reduction Act, which includes $80 billion for the hiring of 87,000 new IRS enforcement agents “to target Americans with as many as one million additional audits per year on taxpayers earning less than $200,000 – the same middle-class suffering the most from Bidenomics’ skyrocketing inflation,” according to the House Freedom Caucus.

“After todays raid on Mar A Lago what do you think the left plans to use those 87,000 new IRS agents for?” he asked:

Lara Trump: They detest Donald Trump because he doesn’t play their game

Lara Trump blasted the FBI’s raid on former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home on “Tucker Carlson Tonight.”

“I have spoken to my father-in-law and I got to tell you, you know, he’s as shocked as anybody, I think. For someone and anyone, quite frankly, who loves this country and believes in America, this should shake you to your core, what has happened today. This is a very clear demarcation in the history of America. Never before, as many of your guests have already talked about, Will, have we seen something like this happen where an unannounced raid by the FBI is conducted on a former president of the United States.

Think about this. If this is what they’re able to do to the former president of the United States, think about what they could do to you, to anybody in America. The bottom line here is that these documents that have been in question have been, everybody’s been cooperating.

Everybody from my father-in-law’s team has been cooperating with the FBI with any authority that asks for anything up until now and there was no need to make such a big scene, to do something this insane, quite frankly, to a former president. But I think everybody clearly knows, Will, what is going on here. This is about weaponizing the justice system, as it has been so many times in the past against somebody who you politically do not like.

They detest Donald Trump, not just on the Democrat side, but the general establishment, because he’s not one of them, because he doesn’t play their game. They are terrified he’s going to announce any day that he’s running for president in 2024 and this is a very convenient way to just throw a little more mud on Donald Trump as though they haven’t already done enough.”

Steve Bannon on FBI Trump raid: ‘This is about pure power politics’

Former Trump White House adviser Steve Bannon reacted to the FBI raiding former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home Monday on “Tucker Carlson Tonight.”

“I said we’re at a political and ideological war. They’ve weaponized the Justice Department – this had to be approved, going up to the White House to be approved. Absolutely. Anybody saying it didn’t is a liar. This had to go up through the chain of command, through Merrick Garland to Ron Klain, at least [FBI Director Christopher] Wray and these guys. This is about pure power politics. They’re scared to death about Trump. They’re absolutely petrified terrified that he’ll announce in a couple of weeks, win the Republican nomination and win the White House.

We need a full investigation, cutting off appropriations to the FBI to get to the bottom of this, okay? This is going to continue on. The FBI right now is the Gestapo. The FBI is the Gestapo, whether it’s out in Colorado, putting a gold star mother in chains, Peter Navarro in chains. It’s absolutely obscene. This is insanity. We need to fight fire with fire and the way to do that is to win elections, win them overwhelmingly and then use the appropriations process to choke down the FBI and choke down the Justice Department and get to the bottom of who approved this. This is so outrageous it needs to be investigated.”

What is Mar-a-Lago?

  • In Donald J. Trump’s 2004 book, “Trump: Think Like a Billionaire: Everything You Need to Know About Success, Real Estate, and Life,” he wrote, in part, “Mar-a-Lago was sitting there a long time before I saw it and decided to move on that magnificent site.”
  • Trump bought Mar-a-Lago in 1985 for approximately $10 million, according to publicly available information.
  • It’s located in Palm Beach, Florida. Mar-a-Lago is a resort and national historic landmark.
  • “The Mar-a-Lago Estate was opened officially in January 1927 after four years of construction,” notes the website of Mar-a-Lago itself.
  • “The whole of the property comprises approximately 20 acres of perfectly landscaped lawns,” according to the Mar-a-Lago website.
  • “The site on which Mar-a-Lago sits is now considered the most valuable parcel of land anywhere in Florida,” says the property’s website. In 2018, Forbes valued the Mar-a-Lago estate at $160 million — or 16 times what Trump paid for it.
  • Trump keeps a section of the estate private for his family’s personal use. It is the second-largest mansion in the state of Florida.
  • In September 2019, Mar-a-Lago became the primary residence for Donald and Melania Trump. They had previously maintained their primary residence in New York City.
