K9s are remarkable dogs. Not only do they provide an invaluable service to police departments, but they also leave an indelible mark on their colleagues, forming an unbreakable bond.
According to a video, this occurs when a police dog is reunited with his former handler for the first time in years.
The Xichuan Police Department initially posted the heartwarming video on a Chinese social media platform. According to Daily Star, Wangwang, an 8-year-old German shepherd, served as a sniffer dog for the department until his retirement in June 2019.

While Wangwang deserved a comfortable retirement and was well cared for, her separation from her former partner and handler was unfortunate.
She greatly missed him, so when the officer decided to pay her a surprise visit after a long separation, she was ecstatic and ran straight to him.

The two old friends enjoy a heartwarming reunion. The officer rubs and pets Wangwang, who appears to be crying from happiness.
Even though they hadn’t seen each other in a while and had gone their separate ways, neither the officer nor the dog had lost their affection for one another. The original video stated, “Wangwang’s hair is turning white but she is well fed, she is getting fat,” the original video read.
“It is always hard to bid farewell to your buddy.”

While many K9s and other working dogs live with their owners after retirement, spending their golden years with someone they already love and trust, the Xichuan Police say that their officers do not have the time to care for retired dogs, so they are cared for by a family.
It’s unfortunate that these two had to part ways after forming such a strong bond on the job, but judging by Wangwang’s expression, we’re confident that this wasn’t the last time the officer visited his old friend.
