Pig lost in the cold is given a ride home by police officers

Every now and then, we could all use a little assistance, and it’s always encouraging to see people go above and beyond to assist animals. The smallest act of kindness can have a big impact.

That happened recently after police gave a lost pig who was out in the cold a ride.

A concerned citizen called the Anchorage Police Department about a pig they had seen standing by the side of the road in the Fairview neighbourhood, according to a Facebook post from the department.

Police officers don’t deal with cases like this very often, so they couldn’t help but make fun of it in their report: “We’re all familiar with refrigerated bacon, we just never thought we’d respond to a call for service related to that topic,” they wrote.

They made the decision to take the pig for a ride in their car after realizing it was cold and alone. He was a “portly dude,” and they called him “quite friendly.”

The pig’s family was thankfully reunited thanks to their efforts. When they learned that the pig’s name was “Elvis Pigsley,” they were greatly amused.

This piggy rescue would undoubtedly rank as one of the most peculiar cases for many officers. However, according to the Anchorage Police Department, this is actually their second odd animal rescue in the previous 12 months.

In April, they were called to retrieve a turkey from a convenience store.“Can’t blame him really. He crossed the street on his own and everything,” the officers wrote, calling it “a first.”

Later, they laughed that the bird was fortunate to have been captured around Easter and not Thanksgiving: “Had it been Thanksgiving or Christmas time…… this story could have had a much different ending. Just saying.”
