A touching picture of a dog faithfully resting next to his owner’s empty hospital bed has gone viral.
Its caption read: ‘Moose sat patiently next to his dad’s hospital bed, waiting for him to return, not knowing that “Dad” had passed away.
‘Moose has now been returned to our friends at Eleventh Hour Rescue and he’s taking the loss of his dad pretty hard.
‘Please help Moose find a new home and a family for him to love. He’s a sweet happy boy by nature. He just needs people to help his heart heal.’
Moose, a 3-year-old lab mix, didn’t know his owner had died, according to Eleventh Hour Rescue in Rockaway Township, and has now been returned to the shelter.
It appears that Moose is grieving the death of his father very deeply and that he needs a new family to help mend his broken heart.
Both Eleventh Hour Rescue and NorthStar Pet Rescue shared the image on social media in the hopes that it would aid in his search for a new, devoted home.
He is said to be housebroken, to adore children, to be kind and joyful by nature.
The good news is that Moose has already received several adoption applications, so hopefully he will find his forever family soon.
