Dying mother receives a special visit from a real deer

Animals may offer people a great deal of solace.
It comes as no surprise that many people desire nothing more than the companionship of their cherished pets when they are nearing the end of their lives. And lately, the pet animal of a dying woman paid her a very special visit.

Lisa McDonald and her sister have been taking care of their ill mother, who has been receiving palliative care. They were looking for methods to make her last days memorable and were motivated by their mother’s longstanding adoration of the Disney film, Bambi.

“She has Bambi statues everywhere, she is wearing a Bambi T-shirt in her bed,” Lisa post in the Facebook group The Kindness Pandemic. “My sister and I and the rest of the family that are supporting us are also wearing Bambi T-shirts… we are calling them our nursing uniforms.”

The family decided to surprise the mother with a real-life Bambi — a genuine deer — visit as her health began to decline.

The old woman is thrilled and startled when the deer walks into the room. The deer, which just so happened to be named “Bambi,” came from a petting farm run by Chris and Simone.

The couple nurtured the deer by hand after it was abandoned. According to Lisa, they made a special trip from Melbourne, traveling two hours, “out of pure love and generosity,” to visit the elderly widow who loved deer. Lisa wrote, “I cannot thank them enough for what they have done for my mum and my family”

It was absolutely worthwhile because the mother deer’s visit created a priceless, endearing scene as the mom tenderly petted the genuine Bambi from her bed.

It is obvious how much Bambi and deer have meant to this woman’s life, and the visit was undoubtedly a high point of her final days.

We’re very happy that this woman was able to experience such happiness thanks to a visit from this lovely deer. It just goes to demonstrate the comforting power of animals.
