This is the first time Tobias, the majestic lion father, meets his baby.
Thanks to the spread of social media, we were able to see the heartwarming moment when a 1-month-old, 12-lb lion cub saw his father for the first time.

The cub’s sole interactions since birth have been with his mother, Neliah.

Once everything was approved, the sweet cub was brought to the family.
Having previously worked with the cub’s pride at the zoo, zookeeper Andrew Haertzen said: “This process helps him know who his protector is, who his mom is. Moving too quickly can harm his development.”

The zoo debated between calling him Meru, after a mountain in Tanzania, Moremi, the name of a game reserve in Botswana, or Tatu, which is Swahili for three because he is the mother’s third cub.

In the last 25 years, the number of African lions has decreased by half. Hollie Colahan, vice president for animal care at the Denver Zoo, believes that the birth will bring attention to the species’ dreadfully low population levels.
These lions significantly aid in the telling of the crucial tale of what is occurring to lions in the wild.
