He was twenty miles from his goal. If any of us were in his shoes, it would be difficult to remain persistent.

But Walter took the opposite action. He was resolved to use any means required to get to his new work. The young man had a tenacity that not many individuals had.

He was adamant about keeping the job because he had just obtained it.

He has legs that are completely capable. He has the ability to go about on foot. The location of Walter’s first day of work was Pelham, and he was traveling from Homewood. Again, that’s 20 whole miles.

Walter persisted in his goal, despite how absurd it might appear. He prepared for his trip by sleeping for four hours. It was time for him to get up at midnight.

He got moving without turning around.

After a few hours of walking, Walter met a policeman. The policeman questioned him about his destination and the reason he was walking. The young man informed him that he had to Pelham to go to work.

From his kindness, the officer provided Walter with breakfast and a trip to Pelham.

Walter had finally arrived at his destination.

The policeman informed them about “this wonderful youngster” who had traveled 20 miles on foot from Homewood to Pelham.

“Around 6:30am the doorbell rang. It was a police officer. He proceeded to tell us that he had picked up ‘this nice kid’ in Pelham early this morning. The nice kid. Walter, said that he was supposed to help us with our move today”
